Hey! My name is McKenzie Anderson. I’m a double major in graphic design and magazines. I’ll be graduating from Drake University in May of 2013. Before heading to Des Moines, I spent 18 years in Iowa City, IA. It was my freshman year after randomly signing up for an Introduction to Journalism class, that I found my passion for writing and design. Four years on yearbook staff solidified what my dual majors would be in college and I’ve been loving it ever since.
In 2012 I spent my summer as the Marketing and Communications intern at Boys and Girls Clubs of Central Iowa. From redesigning their various marketing materials to designing the program for their Old Bags X fundraising event, I took on a lot of projects that allowed me to have creative freedom. Although I worked in the administrative office, I visited each of the three clubs on occasion to hang out with kids, help the staff and take pictures of events to update their social media.
Currently, I am a Design Apprentice at Meredith Corporation for WOOD Magazine. I work mainly on their email promotions sent by email to subscribers and also design multiple layouts for their print issues.
